This week’s Talk Topic is making the children think really hard. We have had some excellent thoughts so far.

“Look at some money and imagine it’s journey to your home.  Who else might have had it? What might it have been used to buy?

Getting ready for Christmas

Thursday, November 23, 2017

Early Years have had an enjoyable second Autumn half-term so far. We are now well under way into the preparation for our Christmas nativity, which will be held for parents on 6th December at 9.30 a.m. A letter will be sent out shortly containing all the finer details.

We have had a big focus on the use of language related to measures this half-term; comparing size, length, amounts and weights. Staff have also enjoyed discussing these things with the children during our free-flow sessions and hearing the range of vocabulary being used by the children when playing.

Reception children are looking forward to the final day of term, when we will attend the pantomime at The Castle theatre. On this last day, the Nursery children will remain on the school site and join in their own special Christmas activities.

May we also remind Nursery parents that the children will be returning to school on 4th January next term, as the Nursery staff will be completing home visits for our new starters when the rest of the school children return on the 3rd.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Nativity on 6th December.

Talk Topic 3

Sunday, September 24, 2017

Following on from Friday’s ‘Jeans for Genes day’, this week’s Talk topic states

‘Lots of people wear jeans. Why?’

We are asking the children to consider why this is. Have fun finding out why people you know do or do not like wearing jeans.

Talk Topic

Last week’s Talk topic about gold fish and what they dream about resulted in some fascinating discussions.

This week, in line with Roald Dahl’s birthday, our Talk topic is:

“You have the chance to meet Willy Wonka. What new sweet would you design? What would it taste like, look like, do?”
