Thursday, June 1, 2017

Welcome back to the final half term in Year 1.

We will start this week off observing World Environment day. The theme for this year is Connecting People to Nature”.

We will be discussing a variety of subjects in class. To support your child in their learning you could help them think about answers to the following questions:

  1. What does environment mean?
  2. Why do we need to look after our environment?
  3. Why should we be careful not to waste water, food or energy?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Science Week 2017

Friday, March 17, 2017

On Wednesday 15th March as part of our Science Week activities, Year 1 and Year 3 worked together on three experiments:

1) CATCH A RAINBOW – we added 3 drops of 3 different food colourings & some milk into a bowl and then squeezed in some Washing Up Liquid to see what happened :

2) CHANGING LIKE THE WIND – we placed a marker on our starting line and blew some bubbles,  we then followed one of the bubbles and our partner put a cone down where it landed, we repeated this 3 times and then used a compass to track the direction that the bubbles were travelling in:

3) NATURE’s COLOUR PALETTE:  we went up to the school field with a piece of card that had double-sided tape attached. We searched all around the field to find as many different coloured natural products as we could to attach to our card:
