"Let Your Light Shine" Matthew 5:14-16

At St Lawrence we take our responsibilities to safeguard children very seriously.  We are committed to ensuring that all our children and young people feel safe; that children, parents/carers and staff are able to talk about safeguarding concerns and feel assured that they will be listened to; and that all staff are aware of, and implement safeguarding procedures and guidance including what to do if they suspect a child or young person may be experiencing, or be at risk of harm.  The welfare of our pupils is paramount.

Prevent Radicalisation and Extremism by Acting Early

ACT Early | Prevent radicalisation

It can be hard to know what to do if you’re worried someone close is expressing extreme views or hatred, which could lead to them harming themselves or others. Working with other organisations, the police protect vulnerable people from being exploited by extremists through a Home Office programme called Prevent.

Act early and tell us your concerns in confidence. You won’t be wasting our time and you won’t ruin lives, but you might save them.

Op Encompass Domestic Abuse Notification Scheme

Our school is part of Operation Encompass.

This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse. Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school PRIOR to the start of the next school day when they have been called to a domestic incident.

Our parents are fully aware that we are an Operation Encompass school. The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) has also led training for all school staff and Governors about Operation Encompass, the prevalence of Domestic Abuse and the impact of this abuse on children. We have also discussed how we can support our children following the Operation Encompass notification. We are aware that we must do nothing that puts the child/ren or the non-abusing adult at risk.

The Safeguarding Governor will report on Operation Encompass in the termly report to Governors. All information is anonymised for these reports. The DSL has used the Operation Encompass Toolkit to ensure that all appropriate actions have been taken by the school.

Please find below letter to parents regarding the Op Encompass Notification Scheme.
